The College of Insurance & Professional Studies, in its effort to be ‘The Training Institution of Choice for the Insurance Industry’, continues to improve and expand on its course offerings and operations.

The College is a registered institution with the University Council of Jamaica and plans are underway to have at least one programme accredited by this body.



During the year under review, the College conducted thirty-eight (38) courses, training nine hundred and forty-nine (949) persons; in addition two seminars were presented, namely:

Anti-Money Laundering Seminar
Achieving Success Through Service

In continuation of the Distance Learning Programme, this year we trained Two Hundred and Five (205) participants in course offerings.

For the first time, Introduction to Insurance was offered via distance learning to participants in Mandeville and the surrounding parishes. We will expand our course offerings for 2005 to include Certificate in Insurance Studies and the Jamaica Insurance Diploma.

On June 3, 2004 the College launched its website which allows persons to access information on the seminars/workshops and courses offered by the College. Students can currently make requests for transcripts online and at a later date, registration for courses and retrieval of grades will become available to returning students.

The new Insurance Salesman Licensing Syllabus prepared by our taskforce working group in accordance with new Legislation encompassing the:

· Financial Services Commission Act 2001
· Insurance Act 2001
· The Insurance Regulations 2001

was approved by the Financial Services Commission.

For 2005, our Membership Fee structure will be changing. Companies with under twenty (20) permanent / contract employees will be required to pay a total of Thirteen Thousand Dollars ($13,000.00). Companies with over twenty (20) permanent / contract employees; will be required to pay Six Hundred and Fifty Dollars ($650.00) per person.

Member Companies to the College receive the following benefits:

· Financial Services Commission Act 2001
· Insurance Act 2001
· The Insurance Regulations 2001
As a Member of the College, you will receive the following benefits:

· A twenty percent (20%) discount on all courses, seminars and workshops.
· Waiver of registration fees for courses.
· A twenty percent (20%) discount on room rentals and use of equipment.
· Eligible to be nominated as Directors of the College at our Annual General Meeting.

We ask that you complete the enclosed Membership Declaration Form and forward your contribution to us by Monday, January 31, 2005.
